Zachariah Tarrant Mortis
NAME :: Zachariah Tarrant Mortis[/blockquote]

BIRTHDAY :: thirty-first of July
BLOOD :: Pureblood
NATIONALITY :: British-French-Italian
ORIENTATION :: Heterosexual . . . very much so.
ALLEGIANCE :: To the Dark Lord
HOUSE :: Slytherin
HAIR :: Naturally short, straight and black with either red or blond highlights.
EYES :: Light gray
HEIGHT :: Six feet, three inches
WEIGHT :: 183 lbs.
ETHNICITY :: Caucasian
CLOTHING STYLE :: Zachariah seems to enjoy anything that he feels is comfortable, permits a fair amount of movement, and looks nice. Although, the last one doesn't seem to matter quite as much as the others. While you are likely to find him in a pair of ripped jeans and a tee shirt, you are just as likely to find him in a pair of slacks and a button up shirt.
FATHER :: Barnabas Mortis, physically late forties, technically well past five-hundred, chaotic neutral. Unknown occupation. Turned Rogue's father into a vampire.[/blockquote]
MOTHER :: Morgana Elise Blaine, late forties, employed as an Obliviator for the Ministry of Magic. Agent for the Dark Lord.
SIBLINGS :: None/unknown.
SIGNIFICANT OTHERS :: None.
PETS :: A Blackiston's Fish-Owl named Lyssa.
WAND :: Twelve inches, yew, chimera scale.[/blockquote]
LANGUAGES :: Zachariah's first language is French, thanks to growing up in Orléans, France. Due to his mother's bizarre desire to be able to speak with most of the people she came in contact with, he also learned English and some Spanish.
MAGICAL HIGHS & LOWS :: Be it a thing running through the family, or just a mere coincidence, Zachariah's strongest points seem to come in with the Dark Arts. The Dark Arts are, by far, his best and most favorite subject. He also does rather well in Transfigurations and Care for Magical Creatures. As for the other subjects . . . well, he'd much rather not speak of them.
SPECIAL ABILITIES :: Zachariah's father was a vampire -- and a rather old one, at that. He met Morgana by chance, or so Zach is led to believe, and it was just a fleeting thing. Nonetheless, Zachariah was a product of their thing, making him half-vampire. His mother also sought to it that his son was properly educated in the art of Occlumency, so that he might "maintain his privacy".
PATRONUS :: Zachariah, for the life of him, cannot produce a full-bodied patronus. Be it the lack of happy memories or the lack of desire to truly be able to . . . he simply cannot.
OTHER TALENTS :: Zachariah is outstanding when it comes to both hand-to-hand and armed combat. He finds hand-to-hand combat to be rather stress-relieving, not to mention the kick he gets out of watching others in pain and winning. As for armed combat, Zach seems to have a particular love to swords -- always has, since his first fencing lesson at age eight. As one might imagine, there are a few talents which come about by being half-vampire. Zachariah is quicker and stronger than the average human, and also has better senses than them -- however, they are not quite as strong as those of a full vampire might be. Despite being only half-vampire, Zachariah does still get a kick out of hunting and enjoys blood just as much as the next vampire. Another talent of Zach's is painting -- one of the few, non-violent things he is actually good at and enjoys.
LIKES :: Blood, blood, blood, blood, blood! You might mistake Zachariah for a full vampire, the way he chases blood like a dog would a bone. Hell, you might even think he were somehow related to a certain other half-vampire at Hogwarts . . . one with the last name of Moore. Similarly, Zach also quite enjoys the thrill of hunting and the feeling of power one gets while watching life slip through their hands. That's another thing: power. Zachariah is a power-crazed maniac, and would go to just about any length to achieve more of it. Zach also quite enjoys music, believe it or not. Though he cannot play any musical instrument well himself -- apart from the drums -- he does, typically, turn to music to relax. Another odd thing Zachariah likes it candy. Yes, you read that right -- candy. Want to bribe him with something? Best thing you could use would be a Blood Pop or Pumpkin Pastie . . . or power, of some sort, of course. Zachariah also likes art -- go ahead and mock him now, it's probably the last thing you'll be able to do. For all of the violence and sadism in him, he simply loves art -- painting, to be more specific. Though, he does have a nasty habit of killing his models... Zachariah is in love with chaos; to help you better understand . . . if chaos were a person, he would stop at no end to be with it . . . regardless of gender. He enjoys instilling fear in others, but nowhere near as much as he does the pain he puts them through. He finds competition and sport to be rather enjoyable, as well.[/blockquote]
DISLIKES :: Oh, please, let's not get started on the things he dislikes...well, if you insist. To begin with, Zachariah simply cannot tolerate orders. Tell him what to do, regardless of who you are -- most of the time, anyway -- you are more than likely going to end up with some severe wounds to tend to afterwords. This probably goes back to the whole being in power, thing. Zach also has a strong hate for people who whine too much, who don't know how to laugh, or who can't take a hit or hint. He simply detests too much order since, like his father, he's in love with chaos. He hates muggles as well as mudbloods and half-bloods -- all tainted blood, in his eyes, and tainted blood in the eyes is worse still when being tasted. He also hates the season of summer -- too much sun, too much warmth, and too many people revealing too much skin that should stay hidden. He's not fond of losing, as you might imagine, and doesn't quite care for being questioned, either.
PARAGRAPH FORMAT :: Narcissistic is, most certainly, the best word to begin with when describing Zachariah Mortis. One might argue that he actually suffers from narcissistic personality disorder -- though he would likely laugh and claim to enjoy ever minute of it. The way he sees it, he's better than you; end of story. Despite this belief, he does seem willing to befriend others . . . if only to use them in some way, shape, or form later on. In his mind, he does not have friends; he has assets, allies, and admirers . . . and, of course, plenty of adversaries. That's all just fine, though, as he believes that he is destined for something much better than a mere Death Eater -- perhaps a future Dark Lord? Oh, that has crossed his mind on multiple occasions. Would he dare do it? You can bet your ass he would, if he saw the opportune chance before him. Despite being so vain and whatnot, he is capable of thinking logically, in regards to himself, every now and again. Rather than making rash moves early on, he tends to make more minor ones that, he feels, will come in handy later on, and get him to a position of higher power. Zachariah is a tough one to anger, though it is probably for the best. Once angered, if truly angered, it is considerably difficult to sway him from whatever it is he plans on doing; be it murder or torture. Oh, yes, torture. True to the sadism that he has a tendency to expose, he simply loves the power and every aspect he gets through the torture of others. He likes watching others squirm, or attempt to hide from him -- again, the whole power thing. Despite everything, he can be rather patient, and will wait as long as necessary for the right moment before acting -- under any circumstance. This is, of course, assuming anger doesn't come into play -- as mentioned, anger has a knack for taking over him every now and again and throwing caution to the wind. Zachariah is, truly, only loyal to himself -- sure, he may claim to be an agent for the Dark Lord . . . but, it's pretty clear that he has is own best interest in mind ahead of anyone else's.
BIRTHPLACE :: Orléans, France[/blockquote]
HISTORY :: Where, oh where, do we begin with dear old Zachariah’s biography? Perhaps with his father. As previously mentioned, his father was a rather old vampire -- old enough to have been the one who turned Rogue Moore’s father, along with countless others, anyway. He came along Zach’s mother, Morgana Blaine, at some sort of bar. At least, that’s the most common story he has been told; his mother likes to change the incident each time he asks, it seems. Morgana was nothing more than some woman used by Barnabas, Zach’s father, and then abandoned. Growing up, Zachariah only saw his father every now and again -- which was whenever the crazy bastard decided to show up. Evidently, it was tough work being a maniacal vampire as well as a father. Though, Morgana and Zachariah both seem to believe, he probably had more children than just Zachariah.
If you couldn’t have guessed, he grew up with his mother. The Blaine family was somewhere between wealthy and middle-class, as their house was more like a manor, but the actual amount of land owned in Orléans, France was rather small. Nonetheless, it was enough for a young half-vampire to grow up on and not feel cramped. His mother handed him everything he wanted without question . . . most of the time. Morgana, you see, was a complicated woman. One day, she’d love the boy to death and treat him as though he were the center of the very universe. The next, she’d loathe him as some sort of creature and either avoid him or serve insults to his face by the minute. Always confusing, her rules seemed to bend on a regular basis. It was not until the night Zachariah cracked and threatened to go find his father and live with him that she seemed to get the idea that he wasn’t joking; Zach was eight, at the time.
Up until then, he had unknowingly gone about as one of the strongest local residents at that time. He had begun his fencing lessons by the time of the threat, and was already showing signs of becoming a talented swordsman. What’s more, his mother had been tutoring him. A former agent for the Dark Lord and firm believer in pureblood supremacy, combined with her dizzying fickle behavior, one could only imagine the sort of tutoring she would give. She would dedicate certain days to discussion of spells, and others to dueling her own son, or setting him up with friends’ and their children to duel. Needless to say, after getting his ass handed to him on multiple occasions, he learned to get better. One of his strongest points seemed to come in with the Unforgivables; countless animals had fallen by his wand and words by the time he had entered Hogwarts. With the threat to run off in search of his father, something in his mother seemed to click. As though a switch had been flipped, the roles had been all but reversed. Whereas she had been the one confusing and hurting Zachariah, he was now the one in control and she was the one willing to do anything to gain approval from him.
Zachariah began his attendance at Hogwarts on schedule, as planned, and without question. It wasn’t any wonder that he was sorted into Slytherin, either; his mother had been placing bets on it with some of her friends, as a matter of fact, while some seemed to believe he might get into Ravenclaw . . . for some reason. Whatever the case, with the new Dark Lord in power, Zachariah and his mother wasted no time in making sure that their loyalty to him was known.
