__________________________________________________________________December 20th five days until Christmas, a favorite holiday among many of Hogwarts students. The Great Hall is full of wintery decorations. Above, the ceiling depicts a snow storm, fluffy white flakes falling towards the students who decided to stay for break. A small breeze, conducted by the fan, gently blows the flames of the candles hanging on the wall. The normally brighter room is dully lit by one a few candles and the reflection on the snow flakes and tinsel slung around the room.
Several students had been set on the decorating committee as a form of detention, as well as desire. Among these students were Adrian and Tori, volunteers who had pulled Israel into the fray with them. The decorations by those who wanted to be there and those who were forced varied drastically. The group that volunteered had managed to get eight small trees erected as well as one large one in the front of the hall.
As the students struggled to decorate the trees and dress the wreaths time raced by. Through the kitchen doors the smell of lunch wafted in. Lingering in the air, though the windows were cracked to let in cool air and suck out hot. Odors belonging to roasts and mashed potatoes caused mouths to water and stomachs to grumble. The house elves seemed to be teasing the teens as they worked at their self-assigned jobs. Lunch was nearing and it was apparent that lunch would be a sort-of reward for those slaving over the evergreens.__________________________________________________________________

Israel Armagedon Lestrange._____________________________________________________________11:15 and a very tired boy lay draped across the table"Have I done enough yet?" Israel moaned loudly. It wasn't that he hated Christmas or the whole decorating and beautifying that his friends had roped him into, it was just tiring work. Had he not been working at this since breakfast, an early 7:00, then perhaps the exhausted slytherin would be more apt to completing the tree he was working on. Alas, it stood there, mocking him, in slytherin green and silver. Giant balls of crystallized colors taunted the boy unmercifully. Maybe it was the heat coming from the flames, or the tempting aromas coming the kitchen that made him so fatigued, whatever the case, Israel Lestrange was unable to complete his project.
Leaning his head against the table, the boy allowed his gaze to shift to he brother and very good friend. They seemed to intent of making this Christmas the best one Hogwarts had yet to see. Had Izzy not known any better he would think they were doing this out of love for their school, but it was obvious to him that Tori was simply throwing herself into work in attempts to get her mind off of Scorpius Malfoy. Izzy's own house mate. Tsk tsk, and they were a cute couple too. Too bad Scorpius had an ulterior motive that did not include Tori's happiness. As for Adrian, he was such a good friend to Tori he would do anything for her. The way Izzy saw his brother react with people proved he was nothing like the rest of the family. They were an interesting pair to watch. Tori and Adrian, and the boy was happy to have both in his life.
Yawning widely, Izzy stretched his arms out, pulling the mint green tee-shirt he wore over his flat stomach, his pale belly showing to all. Quickly, after noticing this, Izzy pulled his shirt down to his blue jean bell bottoms. "Sorreh! Tummy time!" He blushed, pushing himself up to his bottom. Matching vans hit the floor of the Great Hall, perhaps he should finish his tree. After all, if Dorian was staying at the castle he wouldn't want him to see a poorly decorated tree. _____________________________________________________________[[in that final look does the deer forgive the wolf?]]

Victoria Antoinette Wood i am who i am and i won't change for anyone. Tan ugg boots danced lightly through the trees, tossing tinsel wherever the girl happened to pass. Her mind set on making this the most beautiful Christmas ever. The greens, reds and golds made the girl beam with happiness. Had she not been given the opportunity to decorate she might very well have decorated the Ravenclaw common room. Who knew what the house-elves would have thought when they entered, let alone her peers. A small smile grew on her face as she thought of their vast reactions. The girl twirled by Izzy, tugging his shirt slightly as he stretched for a yawn. "You got a cute tummy, it's okay if it shows!" She assured him before running to the tree in the front of the Great Hall.
The sure size of the tree shocked the short girl. At 4'11" the tree seemed almost gigantic and was atleast three times her height. Her blue eyes grew huge as she stared in awe. The desire to be one of the students to decorate the tree overcame her, but she did not envy those who decided they would help decorate the massive evergreen. "Adrian, look how big it is!" She remarked, not bothering to get the attention of Izzy, for she knew where his mind was, boys. They had discussed his interest when she was picking through his closet in search of cloths. Nothing she had seen fit right, save the light pink halter dress that she was wearing over a pair of light skinny jeans. In her head she had cursed Izzy for being as tiny as a twig.

Adrian Rose Lestrange __________________________________________________________"So what made you decide to get up and work?" No longer needed by Tori, the boy decided to question his brother. As far as Adrian knew, Izzy had no reason to make the trees pretty. He had been roped in and the boy had expected his brother to do nothing but lay there and ask why he couldn't be outside having a snowball fight like those who didn't decide to decorate. Sneaking up behind Israel, he wrapped his arm around his brother. "Seriously, what got into you?" It wasn't as if Adrian had any doubt that Izzy was a good person, just the fact that he suddenly changed her mind about the trees was shocking. Adrian quickly turned his attention to Tori when he was called. It was true, the tree was quite big. The top almost reached the ceiling of the Great Hall. Huge and full it looked like a hard task, but the charm students that flourish in the class seemed to have it under control. Smiling at Tori, he ruffed her hair up a little bit before heading to the table between his twin and friend. The boy looked at his silver linked watch, 11:45. 15 more minutes until the food would come out as well as the rest of the students. Adrian smiled, his stomach rumbling loudly in his ears. He licked his lips hungrily and pulled his loose orange tank over his dark blue skinny jeans. The boy kicked his black timberlands in front of him and leaned on the palms of his hands. Silently, the boy was fighting the urge to go get a snack from the kitchen. __________________________________________________________ promise me you'll never grow up to be like that boy that boy is a mess, an absolute mess

Post by ANGELINE ROSE VAN ZANT on Sept 12, 2010 8:25:52 GMT -5
<Angeline Rose Van Zant> It was nearing lunchtime, and the Vampire still hadn't gotten up from her bed, the drapes had been drawn letting no light in. The sound of something moving in the bedroom caused the woman to open one eye, her eyes adjusting to the dark almost instantly. She made out long ears as the curtains were suddenly drawn letting a blast of light to rush in, a loud angry hiss and countess throwing the covers back over her head caused the little elf that had been sent to wake her up to squeek and disappear. She stood, the blankets wrapped around her as she felt around for the draps, the poor vampire miscalculated where the table in her room was and ended up meeting the ground, with another hiss she crawled trying to escape the blanket prison. To someone watching this may look comical, the ancient vampire inching her way to the window like a worm, but for Countess this marked the beginning of a horrible day. She finally felt the fabric that covered her window and pulled at it recovering the light source, she finally got herself free from the blankets and kicked them away from her, she brushed herself off, straightening out the black number she slept in. She threw that off, and walked over to her cabinet. She rummaged through it and pulled out a ligh tblue dress, with a even lighter blue corset, and got dressed. With a wave of her wand, her hair was put up in a bun and her make up was as it normally was, as she moved to the door she grabbed the robes she was suppose to be wearing, as a teacher. She shoved the door open and stalked out into the hallway, her eyes now adjusting to the dim light. The sound of chattering and happy singing filled her ear drums, those little rat bastards where enjoying the holiday. Countess hadn't been fond of the holiday ever since she lost Alucard. It was a pointless holiday in her mind.
Lost in her own thoughts she had made it to the great hall, to see students decorating it. Little snow flakes fell, from the sky, but never really hit the ground. Smells took her, sometimes she hated being a Vampire, you could smell almost everything. She moved quitely along the tables towards the teacher table and took her designated seat. She let her long thin fingers tap against the table once or twice before picking up an apple and biting into it, doing her best to hid her fangs. She had kept it relitively quite that she was in fact a vampire, she mostly let the children figure it out for themselves. And she happened to love watching them talk about the rumors around her, how funny humans were sometimes. She then looked across the tables for any sign of anyone she happened to like, no Nox, no Octavius, no Raziel, and no Rogue. She sighed lightly returning her attention to the apple, a light scowl on her face. This day had not been as wonderful as it should have been. Yet still there was plenty more day to change her mood.
Her eyes then fell on a stray ornament that had been placed in front of her little space and flicked it away. there was a lovely shatter sound which she ignored and went back to focusing on her apple, and pretending to be a 'good' teacher.

The corridors were peacefully quiet on the far side of the school as Dorian left Ravenclaw tower and began his pursuit towards the great hall. After skipping out on breakfast he was actually in the mood to snack on something. He smiled slightly to himself and briefly stopped waiting for the revolving staircase to come back his direction. So many of the other students had gone home for the holiday break and he was actually enjoying the peacefulness of it all. Running his fingers over the smooth wooden banister he descended down the stairs paying more attention to the bedazzled tops of his converse than anything else around him. It appeared to have been snowing off an on all day and he was secretly really looking foreword to going outside to run around in it all. Striking at his senses the smell of cinnamon and cloves lingered heavily in the air once he reached the main corridor. Sliding his hands into his pockets he approached the great hall not anticipating much more than the average yearly decorations and perhaps a few festive dishes. What he was met with on the other side was far more impressive.
His jaw dropped slightly in awe as he crossed through the doorway. The entire room seemed to glitter and shine as the lightest of snows fell from the ceiling. He removed a hand from his pocket as he approached a particular tree that had been doused in silver. He slowly reached out to twirl one of the hanging ornaments admiring its beauty. Yes, if there was one thing in the whole world that Dorian could appreciate it was just that, beauty. With a spark in his eye he spun to admire the entire set up of the room his attention being more automatically grabbed by the trio of decorators who were sitting so near by. Brushing bits of black hair out from in front of his eyes he approached them. [teal]“Been busy this morning?”[/teal] he asked with the coyest of smiles. His gaze fell directly onto Israel and never once strayed to either of the other two. For a Ravenclaw he had the dead set gaze of a cobra, his eyes never ending black pits that glistened under the chandeliers lighting.

Victoria Antoinette Wood the sun's gone down but nothing's changed. Pulling herself away from the site of the epic tree, Tori discovered that the head of her house had just walked in. A slight shiver of fear ran up the girl's spine. This was common anytime the young Wood was around Professor Van Zant. Swallowing the feeling in the pit of her stomach, the girl began her slow shrug towards her head, barely paying any attention to Dorian. Yes, she knew him, but not as well as Israel wanted the two. He was always doing that, forcing Tori to befriend those whose company he preferred. Silly slytherin. No matter, the pressing issue was what on earth Tori was going to say to her.
Nibbling on the back of a labret piercing, Tori gained ground towards the front table. Her posture slumped slightly with an arm hugged closely to her chest, it was obvious this girl was lacking confidence. "Professor Van Zant?" Perhaps she'd open up with a pleasant good evening? No, she'd probably receive some sort of spiteful comment. Lost in thought, Tori almost didn't notice the glass ornament whiz past her face.
"SHIT!"
The shock and surprise of it frightened the small girl. Clenching her fist, the girl made her way to the professor. "Are you okay?" A shaky, yet bubbly, voice snuck from Victoria's mouth. It shocked her that she even had the slight bit of confidence it took to say even that.

Israel Armagedon Lestrange._____________________________________________________________Israel stared at his shoes with exhaustion and contemplating why he had allowed Tori to recruit him for such silly things. They decorations would have been just as beautiful without his help, possibly even more beautiful. His eyes darted from his sad little tree to the others along the wall. It was true, his tree wasn't as beautiful as the others. With a sigh of distaste he swung his legs, moaning silently over his failure in decorating. True, he hadn't actually tried, but he hadn't expected it to be the ugliest tree of the lot. Surely there were less excited and experienced decorators. With a wave of his wand a few mumbled words the silver and emerald catastrophe lit up like the rest of the lot. "Hmmm... That looks a bit better." He mumbled angrily before stashing his wand in the tall socks that were hidden under jeans.
He turned around slowly, watching as the ancient runes professor strolled by. Well, he knew what was going to happen next. His silly friend would try to talk to her about school or the holidays or feelings. Didn't she know to stay away from that woman? Hell, Izzy had gone so far as to not take her class, not that he would have passed it. With a grumble he crossed his legs on the ancient wood, leaning his head in his fists.
After deciding he was going to be in a bad mood the rest of the day, his plans were ruined by someone he had expected to go home. Dorian's presence was such a shock to him that he almost fell over in surprise. Nodding heavily the boy forced himself to speak through his excitement, "Of course, someone had to make sure this school was pretty enough for everyone." Israel grinned and rotated himself to face the other male. "I heard a rumor you were going home for break. Not that I'm not happy you stayed, of course." The boy stumbled over a mix surprise and embarrassment and covered his mouth, afraid that he would say something else that made him look like an ass, and this was the last thing he was trying to do.

Dorian let out a small amused laugh with the tilt of his head. He felt slightly flattered by everything that Israel had just said to him. “A rumor? I had no idea I was nearly so popular” he jokingly smiled pulling his teal knit scarf off and dropping it down onto the empty table top. He had gotten dressed with the anticipation of going outside to be in the snow and was now finding the great halls over all temperature a little too warm for his current attire. This was the first winter break in the history of Dorian’s time at Hogwarts that he had actually chosen to stay rather than return home. “I uh… I usually go home for the breaks” he shrugged looking back down to his rhinestone topped shoes. “I guess I just wanted to try something different …I mean it’s my last year here and everything” He added in slight justification as to why he hadn’t gone home. The truth was rarely ever simple with Dorian Blaire. He didn’t want to openly admit how rocky and strained his relationship with his parents had become over the last few months. Especially not when everyone had an impression of him as the boy with the perfect life. He looked back up at the silver and emerald tree that was towering above them and smiled “Besides, My parents were taking off. I guess they were going to spend the holiday in France or something.” He added to the lie.
Looking back over to the doorway where more snow covered students were starting to emerge he ran a hand back through is hair. “Plus, I don’t think I can afford to miss out on another Christmas party” he genuinely smiled with the slightest of winks. It never failed that every year after he returned from winter break he’d have to spend the next two weeks hearing the crazy stories of what had happened around the school while everyone else was gone. It all seemed to make him a little bit jealous. Trouble happened to be a very good old friend of his after all. “What’s keeping you here?” he asked crossing his arms as he looked back at the pale haired boy with wonder. He knew of the wondrous Lestrange Manor even if he had never been there before.

Israel Armagedon Lestrange._____________________________________________________________Israel grinned childishly, was it really a rumor if Tori had told him for a fact that Dorian was staying behind? Ruffling up his white blond hair, the boy shrugged in an attempt the seem carefree. "Well, ya know, Tori told me she noticed you hadn't packed so yea." Blame it all on Tori, that's a good idea. Izzy let his gaze flash to his friend, why on earth was she at the table! His expression grew a bit confused when he realized what Dorian had decided to wear. "So, is there a reason you're dressed like it's freezing?" Yep, there was the winning charm the slytherin possessed. As Dorian began to talk, he felt himself become entranced. The strange sensation not to interrupt shocked the frail boy. "Something different? Like helping me finish my sad little tree?" A small giggle came from the boy as he crawled to the edge of the table and jumped off. With a soft thud he landed on his toes, a slight sound emitting from where granite floors and soft rubber soles met. Not facing the other male, he allowed his smile to drift away when he remembered his own reasons for staying. Yes, it was true this was Izzy and Aidey's first break at the school, but it was also true that Scorpius was at their house and the twins were very good friends of Tori Wood. Of course, Dorian didn't need to know this, so his false reason for staying would have to be better than the actual reason. At the mention of parties, Izzy brightened up. As he turned to the other male the smile he had just lost grew back. Parties, how had Izzy forgotten about them. "Okay, it's decided! The first party either of us hears about we attend! Okay?" Izzy's grin grew as he thought of the things that that could be done at a party. So much fun. Then, the question he was dreading was asked. How could he admit that he was afraid he'd fight with one of his family's closest friends. [not too sure about the malfoy/lestrange relationship] "Uhm... Well..." Israel struggled with the explanation, "Let's just say I'm not Scorpius Malfoy's biggest fan right now and he is staying at the manor over break." There really was too much drama around girls. "It's all that one's fault!" He jokingly accused, pointing a thin finger in the direction of Victoria Wood, his face a mock-serious. With a grin, he turned back to Dorian and tugged on his sleeve, nodding towards the emerald and silver mess. "So, how about you help me with that tree?" _____________________________________________________________[[in that final look does the deer forgive the wolf?]]

Dorian followed Israel’s gaze over to where the tiny girl in ugg boots was trying with great difficulty to talk to the ancient runes professor. Didn’t she know that her efforts to be on the vampire’s good side were all in vain? He had never taken the time to really get to know Tori even though they’d been in Ravenclaw together for six years. It was hard for him to form an opinion of her. She didn’t seem all that interested in him and that made her seem all the more less interesting to him. Still, Israel had to see something in her to have made her one of his best friends? He bit the inside of his lip for a moment contemplating over it. “I wasn’t aware you had people spying on me” he teased reaching out and poking him gently in the rib cage. He rolled his eyes upon hearing the Slytherin's smart ass remark about his cozy winter clothes. Arching a single brow he examined the short sleeved mint green shirt that Israel had chosen to wear. It was slim fit and sort of thin but it looked really good on the boy. “Is there a reason you’re dressed like it hasn’t been snowing all week?” he asked defensively with a slight pout. “Besides…I really want to go outside after lunch.” He smiled innocently. Half of him anxious to go out and run through the fresh powder and to feel the cold air on his face, the other half craving smoke. It was his Jekyll and Hyde complex, there always seemed to be two motives behind every action.
“Oh really? Scorpius seems like an alright guy to me?” he replied with a hint of questioning curiosity layered in his voice when Israel opened up about why he wasn’t returning for the holiday. Dorian had actually known Scorpius quite a bit longer than he had know the Lestrange boy but that didn’t seem to be common knowledge. It was better that way. He didn’t want his name getting drug through the dirt every time Malfoy screwed up. It was like a secret friendship or sorts in which neither really knew the other one all that well. People were a lot less interesting once you actually got to see them for what they really were, or so he thought.
“Of course I’ll help you finish your tree!” he replied sweetly as the blond jumped from the end of the table. It was only recently that the boys had started talking regularly and Dorian was continuously impressed by what a character Israel was turning out to be. He wasn’t nearly as snobby or ill mannered as he had for some reason always imagined he would be. Leaning back against the table he looked around slightly making sure that no one unworthy was hanging near by. “Actually, I hear there’s going to be a bonfire tonight” he replied with his voice kept low. “Obviously not everyone’s invited… But you should definitely come” He smiled with shifty eyes. Cracking his knuckles he appeared as some what sly. “There aren’t too many teachers still on campus but we can’t have the remaining ones catching on to this either” he commented looking up toward the nearly empty teachers table.

Israel Armagedon Lestrange._____________________________________________________________With a great surprise, Izzy jumped away from the poke. His face painted with shock. "Pokings unfair, it makes so many people show their tickle spots." Pouted the boy before returning the poke. Alas, he would be unable to get any real sign of whether or not Dorian was ticklish when he was wearing all of those layers. He shook his hair from his face, doing the same for Dorian. Hehe, you had hair in your eyes. Hmm, a spy, that was a good idea. Maybe he could get the answers to this years N.E.W.T.S with one. It would have to be a naive little freshman though, preferable Hufflepuff. "A spy, hmmm, like any Ravenclaw would help a Slytherin spy on a seventh year." Of course, Tori's little mouth provided more information than any spy could. That silly girl was always in the background, watching. That's why it shocked Israel that Tori didn't know about the Professor's problem.
So now it was winter talk, huh? Yes, it was true that Israel had refused to conform the the cozy warm of winter jackets and fleece sweaters, but he had also not been able to go outside. It seemed he had forgotten his snow clothes at the Manor, and by the time the family returned he wouldn't need it. A sigh of disappointment came from Israel, how to tell someone you were so dumb you forgot your winter stuff at home? "Well, the truth is-" Perhaps out front was the best way. "A gnome ate my winter clothes." Or not. It embarrassed the boy that he was unable to confess about a mistake to someone. He had always prided himself on being truthful to those who mattered. Stupid Izzy, just tell the truth! The internal arguments in the boys mind must look funny to those around. Biting his lip nervously he decided to confess to his idiocy. "Okay, I left my snow stuff at home." Israel braced himself for the laughter and cruel comment, expecting it to be much like Tori's condescending one. She had called him a forgetful fool, in much more colorful words. "I would really like to make a snowperson with you, but you know." Shrugging, Izzy kicked a large green and silver orb laying on the floor. Thanks to some sort of luck it didn't break on impact. Oh, now it was fun time. The Scorpius thing, why did he mention it? It was a good thing Tori wasn't around or she would have a cow about the boys talking about it. "Well, normally I would have nothing against him, but.... His eyes shifted nervously before he leaned in to whisper what had happened. "You know that Scorpius and Tori dated, right? Well, her parents work for the Order and he pretty much used her to get info." Shrugging in a faux care-free manner, Izzy leaned back onto his heals. Hands dug into back pockets as he continued his rant. "Now there's a spy if I wanted one." He joked, glancing over his shoulder, once more, at Tori. Good, she hadn't heard. The conversation seemed to have gone to light to awkward and Izzy was happy when the topic of the tree came up again. "Thank you so much!" cheered the boy as he wrapped his arms around Dorian to give him a quick hug. After pulling away he looked the boy over, he was going to die in here once the food was brought out. "Ya sure you don't wanna get more comfortable? At least until after lunch?" Truth be told, Israel was very curious what the other male had under his jackets. He grinned seductively and raised his eyebrows in a comical manner. Time to see just how bad his game was. However, the mere mention of the party caused the boy's attention to waver for several moments. A bonfire, so it was one of those inner circle kinds of things. Not being friends with too many people, Izzy hadn't been expecting to go to any small parties, only the large ones in the dungeon. "If you're going I'll go. It'd be nice to go with someone who won't insult me while drunk." His grin shifted to a more careful one as he looked towards the front of the hall. Yep, it looked like only one teacher had stayed back for break. They certainly didn't seem too concerned with the students this year, even though even more had stayed behind. Post by ROGUE JINX MOORE on Sept 15, 2010 16:17:44 GMT -5
Rogue | Jinx | Moore Winter holidays . . . never the best for the vampire, but never the worst, either. They simply happened, whether she wanted them to or not. The snow seemed to serve no purpose other than to remind her of the fact she was incapable of experiencing the cold like a human; the trees positioned in the Great Hall stood innocently, stirring vague memories of carefully decorated boxes being ripped to shreds on the morning of December twenty-fifth. Personally, Rogue would like to skip all of the needless cheer, receive whatever present were to be received, and return things to normal. She neither believed in a god, nor did she deny his or her existence altogether -- the belief some man with a beard watching her every move and deciding her fate just didn’t tickle her fancy. And it was for this reason she didn’t truly celebrate Christmas -- hell, she barely even acknowledged it. She likely would have been trapped in Hogwarts the entire break had her father not talked her into visiting some family friends, attending parties, and going to some `business` meetings. It hadn’t been all that bad, really -- she’d gotten to see Octavius, after all -- but it was now the twentieth of the final month of the year, and she found herself in the dreaded institution once more.
Ever have one of those days when your pillows and your comforter practically whisper to you? Tell you that getting out of bed is a bad idea? Well, it was beginning to look like one of those days for Miss Moore. Pulling her comforter up to her chin, the vampire curled slightly into a ball and closed her jade-green eyes. She didn’t have to be a creature with acute senses to hear the excited squeals and giggles of the other girls still in the dormitory. Clenching her teeth, feeling rather generous, she attempted to tune out their voices. Behind her closed lids, she could envision the sort of Christmas she could only pray for -- one where blood stole the place of water and filled the streams and leaked through a dark sky; where the fluff of snow created an ideal playground for any psychotic, blood-thirsty being. But, alas, her dreams were shattered as one girl let out a considerably loud squeal of joy. Honestly, what could have been that exciting in the letter she was sharing? Nothing Rogue could think of. In a horrific flash, the vampire was out of her bed, had broken the nose of the loud girl as well as knocked out a couple of her teeth and was pressing her face to the ground. Her friends stood around in mild shock, uncertain of whether to attempt to remove the beast from their friend or not. In the end, they decided the latter was probably the wiser of the decisions. After there were several streaks of blood covering the floor and blood dripped from the nose and mouth of the girl, Rogue concluded the message had been conveyed. “If you value your vocal chords, you won’t do that again. Got it? Consider this a warning.” She snarled. And with that, the pale creature jumped to her feet and moved to ready herself for the day.
By the time she had returned from a moderately lengthy shower, the other girls had vacated the room. Oh, well. It took a while for the fickle creature to find something she actually felt like wearing but, nonetheless, she was successful. A simple, long-sleeved white blouse with a black corseted skirt and black tights worked just fine. As her sleek black heels sounded with each step she made to the Great Hall, she found herself fidgeting with her necklace -- an early Christmas gift from her father.
Before long, the vampire was entering the Great Hall without so much as a second thought or a feeling of forgetfulness. As she moved to a vacant table, she spotted Countess perched at the teachers’ table. Giving her a slight nod of acknowledgment and paying no mind to the girl attempting to converse with her, Rogue let her jade eyes skim the rest of the room. All in all, the place was rather vacant. Sure, there were people in it -- most of which she could place a name to -- but, really, no one she was all than close to. Then again, was she really that close to anyone? Sure, there was Octavius but that was . . . complicated. And Bellatrix was more of a partner-in-crime in the most literal sense than a friend. But, of course, neither of them were right there. She could see Dorian, however, and Israel and his brother. Fighting off a small scowl as she took her seat, the vampire plucked an apple from the bowl and sat on the bench. What she would give for buckets of blood, right now . . .

Through the double layer of warm fleece Dorian hardly felt the poke that Israel tried to get him back with. Not that it would have mattered though, he wasn’t actually ticklish. Dorian rolled his eyes slightly at the comment regarding spies between the different houses. “Oh, I don’t know about that. I don’t regard Ravenclaws as being particularly loyal to anyone…” he sighed. He spoke not only from his own experiences but also from what he had witnessed time and time again first hand. “Really though… They’re tricky bastards. I hope I should never be unfortunate enough to meet one in person” he grinned obviously teasing while he bashed on his own house. His parents had always been so sure that he really belonged in Gryffindor. After all, quite literally everyone in the family had been placed there. He had some of his own ideas regarding the matter.
He smirked when he heard Izzy’s confession as to why he was dressed so inappropriately for the blizzard like weather they had been experiencing for the last couple of weeks. “That’s one of the silliest things I’ve ever heard” he declared crossing his arms. He decided to be nice and withheld himself from any taunts, although in the particular situation it was rather tempting. “This does sound like the perfect excuse to go shopping…” he smiled trying to think in a more positive manner. He let his eyes wander as the Christmas ornament went flying down the aisle towards where a few more students were dragging themselves in towards the welcoming smells of fresh food. He was so ready to eat he could hardly stand it.
Almost as if on cue food began to appear dish by dish across the table tops. It came in smaller more limited quantities as less than a quarter of the regular students had stayed behind at Hogwarts. None the less everything looked delicious. Lowering his voice and shooting a quick glance towards the teachers table to where Tori was still standing before the countess he scoffed. “Frankly, anyone who goes with Malfoy has to be rather daft” He commented before picking up a warm buttered up roll from a center basket. “I mean doesn’t everyone know he’s just playing games? Total waste of time” he added acting as though he shared no particularly close ties with the boy. Grabbing a goblet off of the nearest table he looked to the faces of the other remaining students. He really didn’t want to be banished back to the Ravenclaw table for the duration of the meal. “Mind if I sit here with you?” he asked back in his normal almost sweet tone. There was a slight glint in his eye as he sipped at the warm apple cider still watching the blond boy with a never ending gaze.
“I guess I can lose the jacket for now” he agreed pretending to be hesitant. Sliding slowly out of it he dropped it down to the same place as his teal knit scarf. He was wearing a black slim fitted polo shirt and a little silver necklace could be seen hanging across his collar bone. It was of a Celtic triquertra encompassed inside of a heart, a sign of never ending love. He had worn it for years, never removing it for anything. “If you’re going to go later we’re going to have to find you something warm to wear. Can’t have you withering out in the cold” he commented using this as an excuse to look Izzy up and down once more. “You could maybe come borrow something of mine… like a jacket” he teased knowing that the difference in their sizes was probably more significant that Israel would actually care for. He was after all a bit more muscular than the skinny Slytherin.

Emmaline had slept in. She’d sat up still tired, rubbing at her eyes and pulling a hand through her tangled hair. She’d been confused for a few minutes. Why had the dorm been so empty? Why was it so bright? Why was her hair an absolute mess? It took her awhile to crawl out of bed, close the blinds and make it to the bathroom. Along the way, she somehow managed to find a clock of some sort and saw it was nearly eleven in the morning. What day was it even? It took a fifteen-minute shower for her to finally start thinking straight. It was Winter Break and Christmas was in five days. She’d slept in because she’d stayed up late finishing her Potions essay. In fact, her hand still hurt from all the writing she’d done. Okay, so what if she had maybe had a sudden inspiration and knowledge to what she should write? It was totally normal to suddenly get in a Potion essay writing mood! . . . Oh, who was she kidding? Emmaline laughed from beneath the towel she was currently using to dry her hair with. Her stomach growled suddenly and the laughter cut off abruptly. She was sooooo hungry. Continuing back to the quiet dorm, Emmaline got dressed in some comfortable clothes (a v-neck sweater and some black capris) before tying her hair back and making her way down to the Great Hall.
Emmaline was glad to be a Hufflepuff for many reasons. One of them being that she was so close to the kitchens and late night snacks were delicious. Another was that she wasn’t even that far from the Great Hall. It was so convenient. Just walking passed the painting of fruit made her want to stop in and grab something but Emmaline knew lunch would be starting in no time so she resisted and continued up the stairs to the Entrance Hall. Hall, hall, hall. Everything was a Hall here at Hogwarts. Grinning at her random thoughts, she crossed the large space before stopping in her tracks at the sight of the Great Hall. Whoa. When had they decided to start decorating? Surely she would have heard something right? Emmaline felt her smile turn into a sort of pout and she folded her arms over her chest and looked around the room. She recognized Victoria and Dorian from Ravenclaw; she’d taken to making sure she knew who was who on the House Quidditch teams. Victoria was approaching Professor Van Zant and Dorian was talking to Adrian’s brother, Israel. Wait. That meant Adrian must be he--- Yes! There he was!
A sudden bounce in her step, Emmaline made her way towards Adrian before noticing a certain brunette Slytherin. Emmaline’s eyes narrowed and her hands curled into fists. Of course Rogue would be here. Directing her gaze away from the girl, Emmaline continued on her way to Adrian. Hopefully, they would be no fighting today. It was lunch time, nearly Christmas, and the atmosphere was rather friendly. Maybe she’d catch a hint. “Aidey~!” Emmaline chimed, sitting down beside the boy and throwing an arm around his shoulders. Her stomach growled again but she ignored it this time, peering at her friend and housemate with a mix of curiosity and fake sadness. “How come you let me sleep in so late? I could’ve been helping with decorating!” she gestured around the Great Hall with her other arm. It was nearly noon, she realized after glancing quickly at Adrian’s watch. That was good. Her stomach wouldn’t hush and she assumed it was because her body was angry with her for missing breakfast. Oh, what silly thoughts.
