Hailey Jean Longbottom
NAME :: My parents named me Hailey. The meaning usually has something to do with 'hay' which I find incredibly uncreative but there's not much I can do about that.[/blockquote]
My middle name is Jean and I've learned that I share this with Hermione Granger, 'the brightest witch of her age,' and an absolutely inspiring woman. Before the second Dark Lord rose to power, I would often stop by the Weasley household just to learn from her what I didn't at school.
And, of course, Longbottom is my last name and one I'm quite happy to have. My father fought in the Second Wizarding War and I'm incredibly proud to be his daughter.
NICKNAMES :: I much prefer to go by what my parents named me but I have been called a few things instead. Hay and Lee, for example, which doesn't make much sense. How hard is it to simply combine the two? Hailey J which is my name and the initial of my middle. It’s not used often but I like the sound of it so I don’t mind it as much. Blondie, as well, simply because of my hair. Shortie, Short-stuff, and Pipsqueak because of my height which infuriates me. It's obnoxious and I really insist that people call me Hailey.
AGE :: I’ve just turned fourteen. Because of my birth date, I’m a bit behind my classmates. I entered my fourth year, for example, at thirteen years old. I don’t know why, but this sometimes bothers me.
BIRTHDAY :: I was born on December 2nd and I think this is why I love the Winter time so much.
BLOOD :: I'm a pureblood but this 'pureblood supremacy' nonsense is rather annoying.
NATIONALITY :: British.
ORIENTATION :: Heterosexual.
ALLEGIANCE :: Neutral. I don't like taking sides, you see, and I don't plan on choosing one any time soon.
HOUSE :: Ravenclaw.
HAIR :: I've got my mother's hair and I absolutely adore it. It's blonde, a honey sort of blonde, completely natural. I like to spend time making sure it looks good. I tend to say that my hair is indecisive as one day it'll be pin-straight and the next, it'll be nice and curly. I like this change, it makes my life just a little less boring.
EYES :: My eyes are brown and that's that. I'd like to say that they have some extra color, a hazel hue, this hidden depth that makes me seem so much more fascinating, but they don't. I wear glasses on occasion, usually when reading or testing.
HEIGHT :: I'm five feet and two inches tall and this is irritatingly short. Most tower over me and I usually have to look up at them which I don't like to do.
WEIGHT :: I weigh 110.5 pounds. This is normal but I wouldn't mind some more meat on my bones. I'm so frail.
ETHNICITY :: Caucasian.
CLOTHING STYLE :: I don't like standing out, per say, so I prefer to wear clothes that'll help me blend with the crowd. While not in the Hogwarts attire, you'll most likely find me in jeans, sweatpants and v-necks, sweaters. Comfort is also very important.

FATHER :: Neville Longbottom, 30's, ex-Auror, ex-Herbology professor, landlord of the Leaky Cauldron, the Order. My father is absolutely awe-inspiring and such an amazing man. He fought in the Second Wizarding War and was a key person in the defeat of Voldemort. He was the Herbology professor until Headmaster Nox took over and he’s retired since then.
MOTHER :: Hannah Longbottom (nee Abbott), 30’s, landlady of the Leaky Cauldron, the Order. Mum is just as brilliant. She fought in the War as well and was a part of Dumbledore’s Army. Now, with Dad, they run the Leaky Cauldron and stay low due to their allegiance to the Order.
SIBLINGS :: I've got an older brother in his seventh year.
Caitlin Longbottom, fifteen, Hufflepuff in her fifth year, the Order. I would say Catie and I are equally different and similar. She helps me in Herbology and Charms, I help her in Potions.
SIGNIFICANT OTHERS :: Do other family members count? I’m going to tell you about them, anyway.
Grandmama August isn’t really my grandmother but I call her that as she’s my Dad’s grandmother. Does that make much sense? Ah, well, no matter. Grandmama August doesn’t really like when I call her that. She finds it lazy that I can’t tack that last ‘a’ onto her name. I just don’t like saying Augusta, alright?
Grandma Alice and Grandpa Frank are my grandparents but I don’t see them that often. Well, I do when I’m not at school but even then, I feel it’s not enough. During the First Wizarding War, they were tortured to insanity by that vile, evil, horrid Lestrange woman and they now reside at St. Mungo’s. I love them dearly.
Now, I feel the need to let you know of the Potter and Weasley families. We aren’t related in any way, but I feel as if they are my aunts, uncles, and siblings. It’s probably that I saw them often enough growing up and spent my days with the other kids. I’ll go more into this when I tell you about my past.
PETS :: None. I actually spend a lot of time either studying or playing Quidditch. I don’t really have time to take care of a pet.
WAND :: Veela Hair would be the core of my wand and I’ve been told this is rare. I’ve learned that if the user isn’t of Veela blood, then the wand could also choose a Ravenclaw for the intelligence that they both have. The wood of my wand is Reed and, at first, it was difficult to use. It’s quite delicate and I had trouble casting spells with it. Soon, though, it seemed to warm up to me and to this day, it’s been a spectacular wand. The length is a short eight and a half inches.[/blockquote]
LANGUAGES :: English, first and foremost. I’m teaching myself French. I’d love to learn British Sign Language but from what I’ve read and searched, American Sign Language seems much easier and something that would be interesting to know. Grandmama August insists on signing me up for German lessons each summer to which I am never quite happy about.
MAGICAL HIGHS & LOWS :: Is it conceited to say that I excel in the majority of my classes? It's true. I work very hard to do well in my studies and I'm usually the one answering questions. Potions, Astronomy, Arithmancy and History of Magic are my strongest points. I like things that are precise, that I can take plenty of notes on. I actually quite like Divination. I seem to be one of the few who can stay awake and understand the way of teaching. I'm part of the few that take secret Defense Against the Dark Arts class.
Transfiguration, Charms, Care of Magical Creatures and Herbology aren't my best suits as I don't like hand-on-hand lessons. My father does his best to try and peak my interest in Herbology but he's no such luck so far. I'm not very good at Dark Arts, either, though I do try. I’m not much a duelist and this is fine as I don’t go around picking fights. If confronted, I’ll talk my way out of things. I don’t do well on pop quizzes. It’s probably something I inherited from my mother, but I’m easily stressed.
SPECIAL ABILITIES :: Well, I’m quite the Chaser.
PATRONUS :: Can I cast a patronus? Did you really just ask that? Of course I can cast a patronus! I’m the daughter of Neville and Hannah Longbottom! I may be in my fourth year, but I’ve always said that you’re never to young to learn magic. My patronus takes the form of a dolphin, something I’m not surprised by. Dolphins are quite intelligent animals, and very graceful. Upon casting the spell, I’ll think of the summer I was free of German lessons and when I saw my Grandparents almost every day.
OTHER TALENTS :: Is it a talent that I can finish most assignments before the class ends? Because I can do that. How about that I can hold my own while drinking Firewhiskey? Yeah, I’ve been to a few of those crazy Hufflepuff parties and I’m not shy with the alcohol. Mum and Dad don’t know this, of course, but it’s no big deal because I’m not some stumbling idiot when I’m drunk. I’m quite good at Wizard Chess, if that can be considered a talent.
I’m really very good at flying. I’ve been doing so since I was at the mere age of six and I’m now one of the Ravenclaw Chasers. Rose, Lori, and I work well together and often score quite a lot of points. I love swimming and, though we have no pools at Hogwarts, I may take a dip in the Black Lake on a few choice days. I know a lot about Medical Magic and I’m pretty good at taking care of wounds. I don’t want to say that I’m clumsy, but I have this remarkable talent for tripping over things that aren’t there.

LIKES :: Oh, things that I like? That’s a long list. Well, to start off, I love a ton of different scents. Rain, freshly mowed grass, just baked cookies, new parchment, ink, vanilla, pine trees. Oh! The smell of Christmas in general is absolutely brilliant. It’s my favorite time of the year so I suppose I could say I also like Christmas, Winter, snow, ice, and the cold. Sugar Quills are on this list as well. I love being home during the Summer and spending time with my family. Being in Ravenclaw, as well, is definitely something I like. Doing well and exceeding in class, passing with flying colors, learning something new are things I am quite a fan of. I’m quite positive, it would seem, so there isn’t much I don’t like.
DISLIKES :: Ah, onto the dislikes. Purebloods who believe that they are superior to others which means most Slytherins. Unbearable heat, the sun, and being sunburned. Pop quizzes and other educational things that stress me out. Being stressed, feeling overwhelmed, making mistakes. Most animals, particularly the ones in Care of Magical Creatures. Fakes, liars, cheats. Waking up late, going to bed late. This may seem like a lot but you could just group them together. As stated before, I’m an optimist and I don’t dislike very many things.
PARAGRAPH FORMAT :: My personality? Oh, it really isn’t that fascinating. I guess I can get a few out of the way now. I’m in Ravenclaw which automatically tells you a few things about me. I’m really quite intelligent and I work very hard to do well in class. I’m focused and I let very few things distract me from my work. One of those few? The needs of close friends. On a normal day, I can come off as selfish as I put myself before others. I’m not selfish, though, honestly. I just feel that you need to be able to take care of yourself before you can others. Anyway, I do go out of my way when a close friend is in need and I will help them the best I can. I am the shoulder to cry on, the ear that’ll listen to your troubles.
I’m outspoken and I refuse to back down when it’s something I believe in. I get into quite a few debates and these have very nearly led to fights. If a fight is brewing, I use my words to stop it and, eventually, we’re to busy arguing to cast any hexes. It’s actually fun to watch. I’m incredibly responsible. Early to bed, early to rise. I brush my teeth three times a day, I turn things in on time, I don’t talk back to teachers. Yeah, I definitely seem to be that goody-two-shoes girl but I’m not. So don’t go around saying I am. I’m a firecracker, I’m easily set off and though I won’t use fists, I’ve got a sharp tongue and I will use it. I must sound so unlike my parents. Shy, loyal,boringand passive, I love them so but those traits seemed to have skipped my generation.

BIRTHPLACE :: I was born at St. Mungo’s and I live above the Leaky Cauldron.
HISTORY :: I was born on a chilly December morning at St. Mungo’s and for the majority of my childhood years, I lived in our tiny place above the Leaky Cauldron. Being so close to Diagon Alley was spectacular and I went there quite often, looking around all the shops. I started working at an early age, helping out around the pub, cleaning and helping with orders. It was fun and I even earned money from it. By six, I had enough and bought my own Nimbus 2001. Quidditch was one of my childhood past times, something I did every summer. You see, living so near Muggles does not help with the whole flying broomstick thing. So, we’d move to our quaint home in Godric’s Hallow and spend our summers there, bonding with my parents school friends.
(this bit of history is off as we've lost the characters i mention).
This is where I tell you of how I know the Potters. They lived in Godric’s Hallow, you see, and Neville certainly didn’t mind seeing Harry and Ginny again. So, I would spend my time with James, Albus and Lily while our parents talked over tea. We’d play Quidditch, two on two, and sit around while James played his guitar. The Weasley’s (Hermione and Ron, I mean. I didn’t see much of the others) lived at the Burrow and I loved that place. Honestly, if I didn’t live with Mum and Dad, I would live there. Though I didn’t see them as often, I felt closer to Rose and Hugo than I did the others. They were around my age and both into Quidditch just as much as I was. To this day, Rose and I are both Chasers on the Ravenclaw Quidditch team.
My first day to Hogwarts was perhaps one of the greatest days of my life. Mum and Dad told me all of their stories and their experiences at the school and I had very high hopes. I went into that school thinking the very best and it was. I couldn’t wait to be sorted. I had no idea, really, where I would go. Would I be of Hufflepuff, like my mother? Or a brave Gryffindor as my father? Neither, it turned out, when the hat sorted me into RAVENCLAW! without a second thought. For a short moment, I was confused, before realizing that this was just as well. Soon, Rose was sorted into the same house and all was well. After just a few weeks of school, I had no doubt in my placement and knew that this was where I belonged. Mum and Dad weren’t happy, to say the least, but were proud nonetheless.
Now in my fourth year at Hogwarts, I’m still doing quite well in academics and friendships. The whole new Dark Lord thing has barely affected me, in all honesty. I don’t care to be involved in the nonsense of it all. I just want to go through my school years with high marks and a lasting impression.
